Gopalpur Zoo :what is the future for the flora and fauna of himachal pradesh?

"Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"

-this is the quote many of us must have heard in our daily life.People are given responsible positions so that they will add some value to the social life not to degrade it.

Like many departments of the government,forest department is also one of many which is of usefulness to the state and for the nature in general.Without this department,we can not hope for a better environmental and ecological atmosphere in the society.In order to perform their duties well,officials are given some responsibility and authority so that they will harness their abilities and authority in  a better way.But there are many instances wherein the authority and duty is violated,if not violated,not performed in an appropriate manner,sometimes it gets away unnoticed,sometimes it gets into lime-light.

I have earlier written about the Gopalpur zoo,wherein i have talked about its location and other normal details.This time its different.Here is the case wherein we saw the suspension of the forest officials concerned.What could have been the reasons?who was given in charge of the zoo?will it be any different than earlier scenario?these are the questions that come to our mind and here is a little speculation about it all.

The better administration of a place or area is a collaborative effort.Its not a one man job,and if its a one man job then we can be sure of having troubles or if not troubles some small problems here and there.Now the Forest Minister has ordered one ACF level officer and the Deputy Ranger has been given the charge of the Range Officer,his past stints and expertise with the wildlife can be given credit to that also.Now we can look forward for a better administration of the Zoo or we not? Here is the catch,though we have changed the officials and brought in the new ones for better administration we should seek more accountability and for that we need to impart proper training and expertise to the resources starved Zoo,where we have fauna and flora,but the lack of will and lethargic manner of some employees can cause trouble and instead of a better arrangement nothing can be done.We  need a better administrator,that is one full time officer in-charge coupled with good staffing ,that is ready to serve with dedication and knows that to serve the nature is the highest purpose for the men,the children of the nature.
